Karen Idelson has been a freelance entertainment writer, researcher and editor for more than ten years.  In addition to profiling some of the most notable figures in the film industry, she often writes about the technology used to create cinema and home entertainment, and the new tools that make life easier for all of us. 

Her profiles and interviews include Morgan Freeman, Uma Thurman, Kevin Spacey, Sam Raimi, Jeff Bridges, Sarah Polley, Tobey Maguire, Edward Zwick, Ray Liotta, Paul Sorvino, Ving Rhames, Jerry Bruckheimer and Ridley Scott.

Her technology pieces cover everything from mobile entertainment and the technology that supports it, visual effects, motion picture sound, trends in video gaming and dozens of other subjects.

Her articles have appeared in dozens of publications including The Los Angeles Times, Variety, Modern Bride, The Dallas Morning News, Houston Chronicle, DVD ETC Magazine, The Tucson Weekly, Tucson Lifestyle, DVDfile.com and popstaronline.com.  Karen is also a contributing writer with HDTV ETC Magazine.

A skilled and experienced public speaker as well as interviewer, Karen has moderated panels at popular events like Comic-Con ( www.comic-con.org ), where she lead a discussion with cast members from the hit ABC series LOST which was attended by more than a thousand people.

She received a B.A. in Psychology with an emphasis in social psychology and the psychology of cinema from the University of Arizona in Tucson.  Karen is also a graduate of the Advanced Technology Internship program at the American Film Institute.  There she received instruction and taught courses in visual effects software two years before the introduction of a master’s program in digital arts.

Karen lives in Los Angeles with her husband and their collection of 2500 CDs and DVDs.
